Hey everyone. I’ve been fortunate to receive acceptances to really strong medical schools this semester. I’ve dedicated all my time to extracurriculars and am probably going to end up with a 3.0 GPA this semester (all B’s).

Do you think this would impact my acceptance at any of the schools? I applied with a 3.8 gpa.

Unless you fail a class, you should be fine. That being said - we can't predict the future, and you can't hide the grades. So just pick the school you love, and work with then.

They won’t record your acceptance over a B average unless you failed a pre-req or you show a complete disregard for everything now that you have an acceptance. They won’t ask for grades until after matriculation, and a couple Bs won’t kick you out.

I had 1 B going into my last semester. Got in to med school, didn’t show up for class other than taking a test. Didn’t open a book other than to cram before the test.

Promptly got 2, or was it 3 Bs? No one ever asked or cared about my grades the last semester

To the neurotic pre-MED, one may think a single B is an application killer if you peruse SDN. I can sympathize with OP, as I too come from the realm of naivety.

What about dropping the last semester of classes? Would med schools care?

Oh yeah... On SDN an A- means you cant ever go to med school...

Lol yea but there are also people who are like "522 MCAT, 3.8 GPA.....do I have a chance?"

SO true LMFAO!

the neuroticism. I've seen people on here post on the thread about "low GPA motivation thread" or something like that when they had a 3.5!!!

I mean seriously? 3.5 may be "low" but not low enough to post in that thread

I have a 3.66/3.99 and will likely be north of 512....my WAMC post will open with “I know my chances are good, but does this school list look right?”

That's much more appropriate. School list can make quite a difference

That is actually my computer lock screen. It is that picture with the caption “I am become death, destroyer of worlds.” My wallpaper is Ernie whispering “Hail Hydra” to burt. Sesame Street and Muppet memes are life.

I'm in a similar boat OP, we will be good. I've heard you can also get a C if it came to that. They just don't want you to fail lol. I don't think one US MD school would rescind an acceptance off an average grade.
