Hi all, I am trying to decide between Bryn Mawr and CU Boulder post bacc. Would love to hear pros and cons(if any) of both programs from any former student or someone who knows a former student. They are both solid programs and I got amazing vibes from the people at CU Boulder. Factors being considered - MCAT preparation, med school application advising, volunteer opportunities. I'm really not concerned about the cost.

My experience is that the bulk of individual postbacc success is driven by applicants and not programs - Bryn Mawr is the best postbacc program by far, but that's also because they are the most selective about who is admitted. Being a one year program with the most linkages, they get the best students. If you were admitted to Bryn Mawr, you have good test taking ability/personal statement writing ability/cohesive extracurriculars. The majority of medical school admissions committees are not wooed by the prestige of a postbacc (beyond a few that have a very strong relationship, like LKSOM and Temple), and good students will achieve strong MCAT scores wherever given that the majority of MCAT prep is self-paced. My friends at Bryn Mawr were very happy with their experience, but I also think that they would have been just as successful if they had done a DIY postbacc. If you prefer CU Boulder and see yourself doing better there, then I don't think that it is a mistake to attend.
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective!

Hi,

What is the best range for SAT/ACT scores for an ideal candidate to a place like Brwyn Mawr/Goucher. Unsure if an average score for accepted applicants is available, but was wondering if there was a lower end cut off. I took my SAT 10 years ago and score approx 1820 which is a current 1320, and unsure if I should study and take it again.

Hey all! The time has come to begin 2025-2026 postbac apps, and given how helpful the previous years' threads have been for me, I figured I'd start this to hopefully be a resource for current and future applicants. I'm working on BM, Goucher, JHU, and a handful of other schools on the east coast. Would love to hear where everybody else is applying!
I’m finishing my last semester in the SMU MBMS program, and I’d highly recommend adding it to your list. I’ve had a great experience overall. The curriculum is rigorous, the faculty and advisors are very supportive, and the program has linkage/affiliation opportunities with professional schools that can really help strengthen your application. It also gives you the chance to prove yourself in upper-level biomedical science courses and show admissions committees your academic growth. If anyone has questions about the program, I’d be happy to answer them.
