So people do informal post-bac by taking upper level bio courses at their state school. But I'm wondering.. are there enough upper level bio courses to do post-bac for a year? that's around 10-12 upper bio courses😱 What exactly do you take? I looked through course offerings and i only see ~4-5 400level courses... Is it still ok to take 300 level courses (that i didn't take during undergrad)? I feel my chances of getting into a dental school will be very slim this cycle so I'm trying to take classes from January but at the same time, I want to make sure what I will be doing will be worthwhile for next application cycle.

Histology, immunology, microbiology, developmental biology, biochemistry (if you haven't already), anatomy, physiology, etc and their associated labs. Some people take upper division courses in chemistry and physics too. Of course, not all schools offer those courses... 👎

thanks🙂! So I guess the number (200, 300, 400s) doesn't matter too much (i guess it does, but)? Also, is it worth reapplying only after 3 post-bac courses or should i wait for 2011 cycle?

Hahha well for one thing, I think each school has different numbering systems...like 0 through 99 is lower-div at school A, and 0 through 199 is lower-div at school B, etc. Then there are schools that toss in letters and symbols and pictures to their course names 😛 Probably more important whether its lower div or upper div course...

Do you mean reapply AADSAS for entering class 2011 or 2012? (that always confuses me when ppl say 2010 or 2011 cycle..) You don't have to have all your classes done before applying for dental school. A friend of mine only took three post-bacc courses and got into dental school, but then I guess that depends on how much you want to boost your GPA, how many classes you want to take (and how much $$$ you want to spend), and how long you want to wait before jumping into dental school.
