My first two years and a half years of college were consistent C's in all science... one D and one F.And A's and B's in non science courses...Leaving me at a 2.6ish. Now I have transferred to a new university and now my GPA starting fresh of course I have not gotten anything lower than a B...So now my GPA reads. 3.5. I know with amcas this will all change, so my question is this, for those of you who have decided to do post-bac how do schools look at this and is this calculated into you amcas GPA. And also are you just taking classes or are they going towards another degree or something. Please get back to me...Thanks

Generally post bac is just classes and not toward a degree. AMCAS will have a column which combines all courses taken at the undergraduate level plus all undergraduate postbac courses and this is the one schools reportedly look at for your cum GPA and BCPM.

As you mentioned AMCAS will generate a cumulative GPA regardless. However, my experience has been the higher your post-bacc GPA is and the more credits you get the better off you'll be. That is the further you distance yourself from the original GPA the better off you'll be. I have heard a few mention that cumulative GPA, along with MCAT, might prescreen you out of a few schools. Unfortunately, hard to tell which ones practice this.
