Hi,

I have 32 MCAT, 3.36 GPA (2.8 BCPM 3.41 major GPA, so I did better in upper div classes). And about 300 hrs of clinical volunteering. I'm Asian American and a CA resident. I saw the charts and I don't really like my chances.

Any suggestion on a good post bac program? Should I do SMPs or academic record enhancers?

I'm not under represented and I am a science major so the ones tailored to minorities or non-science majors are out.

Any specific program suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How many credits do you have on your transcript?

what other ECs do you have besides clinical volunteering? your MCAT is very good, but most likely a bit insufficient given your lower GPA. did you graduate already?

with a 32, 3.4 ish GPA and very strong ECs, acceptance to MD is not impossible.

we dont know enough about your situation to offer further suggestions.

I'm looking to do a post-bac also, and was wondering if anyone knows of any exceptional ones in CA. Thanks.

I have almost two years in a bio research lab...basic assistance stuff like running gels and western blots and stuff, haven't been published or anything.

yeah they are basically GPA boosters, I looked into UCSD's new premed post bac extention program. they require same stuff as med schools like personal statement and 3 letters. It promises to walk you through the whole application process. But I don't have any letters yet nor have I written a personal statement. The deadline is 1/15/13 so I don't think I have time for that one. Most SMP's seems to have deadlines around May-June

I have over 200 units

In the 2012 Ask LizzyM thread, she mentioned a few notable post bacc programs including Mills College and Bryn Mawr. Obvious Bryn Mawr isn't in CA, but I mention it just in case.

I'm starting mine at UCB Extension after talking to Stanford adcom who recommended it over SF State's.

Thanks for all the responses!

You might find valuable information in the postbac forum if you have not already looked there: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forumdisplay.php?f=71

Yep I've been looking on there for the last 8 hours...so much info

32, 3.36, Asian, California? Troll.

I mentioned my state of residency along with stats because CA is not med school friendly, too many applicants and too little spots. Same with the Asian thing
