Post bacc prereq W's dooming?

Hey all,

I had a 3.8+ undergrad GPA, double major, with two W's in non-science courses. Lots of strong EC's etc. After one year of post bacc I have a 3.6 sGPA but already dropped bio 2 and got a W (retook for an A over summer). This semester I'm taking physics 1 and orgo 1, and things haven't been going well. I've had some mental health issues that started last year and got worse recently. Seeking treatment finally but feel the damage has been done as I haven't been able to focus much to this point and have B-/C in the two classes. Also, not sure how well the treatment will work rest of the semester.

Debating whether to drop one of my courses, focus on doing my best in one and retake the other over the summer. This will likely push back my app, but that's not my main concern. I tend to think the W's will require an explanation, and I'm very concerned that my explanation is a red flag in itself. It also hurts that this issue is happening in post bacc, in closer proximity to when I'd be starting med school as opposed to some distant problem I overcame.

Assuming I have to drop one of the courses, is there a good way to explain this or am I basically screwed?

Thanks

you have a great undergrad GPA and a 3.6 sGPA is competitive as well (that's about the average for MD matriculants).
I would withdraw rather than risk hurting your GPA. Even though you are doing post-bacc, you aren't doing post-bacc for GPA repair. Since you have a 3.8/3.6 I think it will be less concerning than someone who has W's in post-bacc who had a poor undergrad performance. the W's will most likely require an explanation (most likely you will get asked about them). If you get asked You could say you had a health problem that impacted your performance such that you decided to withdraw, sought treatment and are now doing better (or something to that effect). when you retake the classes just make sure you do well

You could also just take the B- and the C. you should calculate what your GPA will become with those 2 grades

Edit:
Also what I've heard is that things like this don't generally doom someone. If you have the whole package (competitive GPA and MCAT, strong ECs and LORs) then if you also have something undesirable such as a few C's or W's, it's obviously not something you want to have but if you do it's not going to doom you (maybe at the top tiers though haha).
