I am posting here because this is the forum with the most posts/viewers. With post-bac work do the classes HAVE to be part of a set program, or can one just take classes that are in lin with those already of the degree: ie, I have a BS in health sciences(public health), can I take another bio-stats class or epi at another univeristy and have that averaged in to my gpa? I have done some reasearch, and without trying to sound too dumb, have to ask...I can't find much info on how one would be albe to go about doing this exactly. Sorry, but this is all new to me.

I would say take the classes anywhere. I believe most "official" post-bac programs have certain courses such as the general pre-reqs for those who haven't taken them - at least that was the deal w/ the post-bac program I took. It sounds like you are interested in taking a wider variety of interesting and related courses for purposes of education/interest/GPA improvement or whatever other reason, and you might not find them at some post-bac programs. I think it is the courses you take and the dedication you show by finding them and pursuing them that is what matters, not where you take them. The only issue you may run into is financial aid. Often, federal loans are only available if you are degree or certificate seeking. If you already have a degree and are not taking the extra courses as part of a grad program, you may not be able to get financial aid. Post-bac programs, however, are considered "certificate seeking" (at least the ones I'm aware of, I won't generalize), so by enrolling in them, you ARE eligible for financial assistance. Just some things to think about :luck:

right now I just want to get my gpa up...I have been accepted to a MS in health services admin/mba program...but I am thinking about MD or DO now and looking into my options...I have been out of school for almost 2 years now and NEED a new career they pay me well, but money isn;t everyhting...I hate it...as my other posts on here state I have wanted to be closely involved in the healthcare industry as long as I can remember, but my past grades don't show that desire...
