Yesterday, Aug 24, I had the opportunity to interview at Western University of Health Sciences (aka COMP). It was a great experience. There were about 20 of us there. I have to tell everyone how impressed I was with the people in my group of interviewees. If all Osteopathic applicants are as cool as these guys then schools are going to have a really hard time making decisions because each and every one of them were great people and awesome applicants. If it were up to me you would all get accepted. YOU GUYS WERE GREAT!!! I had previously heard that some applicants are really high and mighty on interview day, but my whole group was great.

I really liked COMP. The staff and students were all really nice. They really made you feel at home. It was an awesome experience. The interview went great, and if accepted I would really consider attending there school. Good luck to all, if you have any questions feel free to ask, However, don't PM so everyone else can see the questions and answers as well. As for me, my next stop is AZCOM on Sept. 22 and DMU on Sept 29. C-ya there!

You can't just post that and not any details of the actual interview 😉. Help us out! ........please 😀

I was planning on providing feedback, but it might take a day or two. What do you want me to say? Ask questions I'll answer them. I don't know what to more to say than it was awesome. The interview was way laid back. My interviewer only asked ~3 questions. Then we just talked about my research and published paper. He did ask me more questions about it, but I think they were of personal interest not the schools. They pretty much had a form that they stuck to for questions. Most of them were average, run of the mill interview questions. There was one ethical question. The part I liked best about the campus was the anatomy lab. It was well organized, and plenty of cadavers to go around. The least impressing part of the school was the library. It was really small, and none of the students seemed to use it much. I kind of asked myself, what kind of medical school is this if students don't even need to use the libray, but I'm sure they just weren't using it at the time. Mind you we were there while they were in class. Our tour guides were OMSII students. 3 ladies, 1 guy. The girls were cool, but he was kind of a dweeb, but very informational. The Dean was probably one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Anyway...........check out my feedback sometime next week. The good thing is that they will make a decision on our files on Wednesday, mail out a response on Thurs. and We should know within week of Wednesday. SWEET!!!!

13 people interviewed at Bradenton the same day as me. 7 were accepted and 6 are now attemding. I would have to say that those same 6 are the ones that most stood out to me. Two of them didn't get in until a couple of weeks before class, but I was absolutely sure that they would-- and they did. The one thing that they all had in common was that they were all different. They seemed to "stand out" on interview day. They were all very "cool" then and they are all great now, albeit very different. No, they didn't all have stellar MCATs, but they are all going to be wonderful physicians. There's not a single one of them that I wouldn't go to for my problems.

When the first day of class came along, we were all at the very same level. There were no favorites. When the first test came, there was no "I'm better than you" going on. We were divided into groups early on and we "live and die" by the group process. The "stronger" people help the "weaker" people. We are ALL being "assaulted" by med school and we look out for each other. It is the coolest feeling that you have ever seen. All the pre-med bull**** has pretty much evaporated and we are all tring to do little more than survive the "trauma". I'm sure that your school will be very similar. Good Luck!!!

what a positive post, and a terrific viewpoint on your experiences....my only hope is that I have similiar experiences during my years in medical if I get accepted!

That's what did it for me. I know i made the right decision.

I really like COMP too. Did I get to meet you ScootDoc? Which interviewee were you? I really like the school. The new curriculum sounds great. The people there were really nice and friendly. My tour guide, Lisa, really impressed me. She was really nice and gave us advice. The most nerve racking part of my visit was the interview. We'll see how it goes. I would really love to go there.

Yeah, I think we talked. I tried to talk to everyone at least once. I was one of the four Utah boys. Tall, dark hair, handsome devil. ha ha! I had the grey shirt on under my suit coat........Maybe you remember me, maybe you don't. Anyway, It was cool place. I would definetely like an acceptance there.
