I was just curious if URM once receiving an interview have a better chance of acceptance than non minorities follwoing an interview. I know many school i have applied to have "extra" info sessions and other activities for URMs students so it appear they are trying to sell them the school even more than non minorites. thanks for any input.

Everyone has the chance of an acceptance after an interview. Better or worst? Don't know if anyone here other than an adcom can answer that question due to many factors that go into the decision process. If you made it to the interview, then there was something that sold them on your application and the interview is used to assess your fit, personality (crazy or not?), and how well you do under pressure; although, it seems most interviews are laid-back these days. They want to get to know you because anyone can sound good on paper. Don't worry yourself with such issues. If you feel you did well, then hope your interviewer is advocating for your position in the class. Good luck!

I tend to think that they do. While interviewing at one school the dean of diversity stated that very few minorities choose to matriculate and that they often offer scholarships to tempt them to come. This being especially true for minority males. I would think that because the pool of them is smaller, most, not all but most would be accepted.

I agree with what a lot of other people are saying that in certain respects their may be an advantage but I also think that there are way too many factors involved that anything we say would be pure speculation. Even an ADCOM member at one school may say that URM's are at an advantage but an ADCOM from another school like say, michigan, where I believe they banned AA or even any other school whose biggest mission is not diversity, might say that there is no advantage at all. School's like howard, meharry that already have so many urm's applying, it might not matter as well as top 5 school's who pretty much have first pick on who they get.

I think theres just way too many variables at play here.
