Hi all. Not the "omg I love you; you're my #1" communication, but unsolicited communication from programs to us. I've pretty much gotten nothing. Kinda weird, especially when comparing with 4th years going into other specialties at my school. Anyone hear from anyplace so far?

I'm in the same boat as you. I've heard nothing other than the generic email they send to all people they interviewed regarding ranking instructions.

I've heard from a handful of places

Same boat. I've heard through the grapevine that a lot of the NE and West Coast places don't do the "love letter" thing, except a few that may be trying to attract you away from a nearby program with a better academic rep.

Interestingly, Wake's blanket email explicitly stated they would NOT be sending love letters to applicants.

I've heard nothing as well except general ranking instructions. Nor have any of my classmates also applying to Rads. Granted, I'm not an "all-star" applicant, so that might explain the lack of communication for me.

One "you're ranked where we typically land on the list" call, two "we'd love to have you" emails, but that's it.

I think places in the Midwest and South are more prone to recruitment calls, whereas the seller's markets of the West Coast and Northeast have virtually no incentive to try to recruit since they probably won't fall father than a few spots beyond their ranked to match pool. Pure speculation on my part, though.

relax everyone...
last year, out of the 11 places i interviewed at -- i heard from 1 place, this was NOT my number 1, i DID send my number 1 a letter with no response and i matched there
there is no need to freak out over no communication

Has anyone received communication from the big NY/Boston programs! I've heard from a few others.

People are wary of posting these as you can assume if a program only does a limited number of post-interview chats, and it gets posted on SDN/AuntMinnie, you have a small pool of people to guess who is who.

That being said, here's an anonymous google doc that you can edit while logged out if you want to post.

nycRads- One person in our group of applicants got a "love" call and email from MGH. That is all I know out east.

Out west I know a different person who got a "ranked to match" call from UCSF.

For me, I've had calls or emails (mostly) from about half the programs I applied to, all different programs than those above - although I did interview at both. Most were informational (NRMP IDs, instructions, etc.) or asking me if I had any questions. Only one out of those was personal and very positive.

I agree with bgb...I imagine the same group of 10 applicants will be getting the homerun calls from an entire tier of programs, but obviously there are 10x(?) as many spots by the time they all fill. And some don't contact anybody.

I'm surprised that they got a call from MGH. I think I remember both them and BWH saying that was against Partner's rules to do something like that.

Yeah...I'm surprised too. I heard the same thing through a faculty member at my home-I. Also surprised abt UCSF...heard they were pretty tight-lipped about ranking prefs.

Yeah who knows..."love" calls don't mean anything since there are surely more highly qualified applicants than spots at any given program. Even "ranked to match" and "I ranked you #1" isn't truly final until 3/21. I'm sure both sides are frequently surprised come match day.
