does anyone feel like they screwed up interview by saying something stupid.. or felt like they were rambling?
does anyone feel that way or am i just alone at this?

any good words of wisdom cuz i think i really need some.. and for anyone else that feels the same as me cuz it helps to have a lil smile after a crappy interview experience

why don't you tell us more of how the interview went.....like what you screwed up on....what you saiad etc. Maybe we will find it funny or tell you its not so much of a screwup. where were you interviewed at anyways

Ok, so I thought it would be a good idea to know who my emails were going to. I looked up a faculty page for the person, who happened to be the head of admissions. I read that she had no kids, moved to be near her family and had a dog. So at the interview I ask how the dog is doing. Fortunately the dog wasn't dead, but the bio was old so she has two kids now and had to give the dog away because one of the kids had allergies. Totally awkward.
It was my first interview and I must say I'll never do that again. Got deferred from ED to regular applican pool. Hopefully more because I was applying to out of state public school.😕

hmm ok.. my first interview.. was at PBA and it wasnt so bad, but the writing sample was pretty horrid. i think i wrote off subject and it probably didnt make sense.. 30 minutes on a simple topic "what does being a servant leader mean to you" and i honestly dont remember what i even wrote..
and the interview i was pretty much branded a particular religion where i kept on defending that i really wasnt and that my parrents are. that was interesting.

oh yea.. it also goes down hill from there..

second interview was at midwestern CPG, where the writing part was fine.. but during interview i was rambling on.. and the question was tell me about yourself. lol i went from who i am to why i wanted pharmacy in less than 2 minutes. then i may have said something about another question where it seemed i may have rambled on again. they probably thought "OMG, she is a wreck"

i have another 2 more interviews but dude.. no matter what i fix, something else is gonna go wrong and i cant seem to stop myself. i have no clue what to do.

im laughing now so to prevent crying later.

I don’t think the writing portions are that important. Its just part of the overall evaluation. You have 2 more interview chances to improve. You can do it! The writing problem is a simple fix. Just write yourself a quick outline before you begin so you stay on topic.

As for the rambling, it sounds like a combination of nerves and lack of experience. Now that you have these other interviews out of the way, use them as confidence builders. Do some practice interviews with family, friends, or through your school. After you’re asked a question, take a few seconds to think of what you want to say or use it to just breathe!

So there is a writing part to the interview at midwestern-glendale? If so, what was your topic?

it was simple like a paragraph questions.. one is what you see yourself doing in 5 years.. and the other one is what is ur impression of midwestern cpg after visitng.. its really chill. these are exit questions u wouldnt even realize they are questions they use to evaluate you.

also.. thanks gilmore2b.. that is actually really comforting.
🙂

Im one of those people that smiles and giggles a lot when they are nervous, so after my interview I went home thinking they must have thought I was some kind of blonde bimbo airhead.

But I think adcoms have seen enough people, they understand that rambling, shifting around, nervous laughter and the like are par for the course for some people. I mean to many its the highest stress moment of their lives! So unless you say some thing very offensive or dumb, if you look edgey they will probably forgive you for it.

I like this thread🙂

i had another one, and i think the lady just bit my head off cuz i was from california. what a grilling experience. and this was after 2 others telling me that they had a breeze of a time during their interviews with the same lady. man hang it all...

I felt like I totally screwed up my interview. Rambling, not presenting my thoughts clearly or concisely. I left the interview feeling totally defeated. However, one week later I got an acceptance. As traditionally A-type, high-stress people, I think we pre-pharmers have a tendency to be a bit hard on ourselves!

I had an interview at South University the other day. At South, you're required to do two interviews with professors. The first lady was without a doubt one of the friendliest/nicest people I have ever met. I breeeeeeezed right through that interview. The second lady was nice, just not nearly as friendly and open, so I kind of clammed up. She did the whole "Tell me about yourself" and I kinda blanked. I told her where I'm from, where I go to school, and why I want to do pharmacy, which are questions that she could have gotten from my file and essay portion of the interview. So yeah, I don't think she liked me all that much. But like I said, the first lady was amazing! So hopefully her opinion of me was as high as mine of her, so she'll put in a good word or two!

I think we all say stuff that we think or feel could have been said differently. We are all a little critical of ourselves.. that's a good quality to have as a pharmacist.

Don't feel bad. I wish I could do my interviews over again but.. well it's the kind of thing that demands repetition. Don't reinforce your bad behavior.. but correct your mistake every time you go in. As long as you proceed in an evolving manner you're headed in the right direction. I cannot believe that somebody can walk into their first interview without botching up somehow. And if they claim they do.. well we can call BS. They either had lots of practice or.. they are great conversationalist.
