I was wondering what's the protocol after you match, whether the program will contact me or whether I should send a "Thank you" email. I still haven't heard from the programs where I matched. Any advise?

I didn't hear from my rads program for a few months and didn't get the contract and stuff like that till a few months before I started rads.

Only program I heard from immediatly was my TY program.

Basically, don't freak out if they don't contact you. They got you and you got them. When its time, they'll seek you out.

Yeah I agree. The rads part you don't need to do anything until next year, but you should contact ur TY or prelim program soon if they haven't contacted you yet.

Thanks for your replies. My prelim program already contacted me and sent me some paperwork. If I don't hear from my rads program, am I supposed to send a "thank you" email?

don't think you need to send them anything.

Interesting, I hadn't realized advanced programs would wait a year before contacting us.

My prelim hasn't contacted me either although since I'm currently rotating there, I can stop by the front office by the end of the week. 😉

I mean they probably will contact you but you likely won't have to fill out any paperwork for them until later next year.

I don't think you need to. I sent one just cause I thought it'd be nice to do, be polite and all. Though to be fair, it'd probably be polite on their end to send one out as well.

So you wrote like a "thank you" email kind of thing? I thought of doing that but then figured I better waited... but to be honest I'm really clueless about the protocol.

Yeah I did. I don't know if there's a protocol, and if there is I'm similarly clueless, but I thought it'd be kind of weird for both parties to know we're going to be working together for at least four years starting next year and not send a quick "hi there."
