Hey Guys,

Just had a question about what I can read from my pre-test scores. I just took AAMC 3, and I know everyone says its the easiest one, but I kind of plucked that chicken and didn't do that great: 30, 10/10/10.

After going over the reasons I missed so many ( I missed 22 science questions),
I found that "only" 7 questions were missed due to lack of knowledge, and 15 were due to test taking mistakes like : marking the wrong answer, misreading the question, skipping over key statements in the passage and not reading the options well.

I felt that this was a bit encouraging because it seems like these are test taking problems that I can fix through just practicing a lot and timing myself well so I read more carefully? Does that reasoning make sense to anyone? Do you guys have that problem as well? How did you fix this?
Or is the kind of problem that all MCATers deal with.

Gracias.

I don't know why people say it is the easiest exam. I feel like the PS is considerably harder than the PS sections of the tough kaplan exams which will likely mean it is more harder than other AAMC exams in my opinion. And the verbal exam was harder than EK. 30 is an amazing start for an AAMC exam.

Anybody who takes the MCAT or any other exam makes those silly mistakes of misreading the question or the passage and those kind of mistakes. It is nature. While you can reduce this to minimum, it seems very hard to completely stop these kind of mistakes. Just be confident and try to be more focused. I haven't taken more AAMC exams to give more advice but that's how I see it.

P.S, If I scored 30 in the first AAMC, I would be pretty satisfied.

Well, I've taken the Kaplan pre-test too, so it's not my first time taking an MCAT practice. And I agree, the verbal was a lot harder/seeming guess-work than other things I've seen. I'm just hoping a lot of timed practice will hep reduce those errors.

Thanks for your kind words though. Are you taking the MCAT this year?

As I was taking the poll, I was clicking the answers that didn't apply to me hoping they would strike out like they do on the MCAT...wtf 😕
