When after match day do the schools to which you didn't match notify you about being added to their waitlist? Bit confused. Is the waitlist automatic or is there some selection?

If you match, you can still be on the WL for any schools you had ranked higher than your match school.
If you don't match, watch your emails because most schools will notify you that you are on their WL, or perhaps ask you if you would like to be on their WL. Be sure to respond or confirm.

This can take a week or two to happen, because our TMDSAS Match Day takes place at the same time as NRMP Match for MS4 students and the med schools will be spending some time supporting their students through the residency match.

Would a post II rejection come after match day?

Match Day serves as a wrap-up.
If you had interviews but didn’t match, watch for WL notifications.
Being told you weren’t selected for a WL is a final rejection
I’m not being purposely vague, but like many questions there is not one answer. Some schools say everyone is on their WL, and others know they don’t need a huge WL and so invite selectively
