Hey guys,

I just recently took the DAT in February and am finishing out my Junior year and planning on applying this summer. I plan on applying to my state school, but I thought I did well enough on the DAT to explore better options. My dream school would be Columbia, and I wanted to gather opinions on if my numbers could get me in! With one semester left my GPA won't change much, so here's what I have right now:

Traditional student getting a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology
oGPA: 3.67
BCMP: 3.53
BCP: 3.43

AA: 22
TS: 21
BIO: 20
GCHEM: 23
OCHEM: 20
QR: 22
RC: 24

Extra Curricular:
Work two jobs
Small group leader at church
A part of the welcome week team
VP2 of my fraternity (Community service chair so lots of planning and community service hours through this)

I plan on spending the money on the application fee to apply, but I wanted to gather more recent opinions about if these numbers can get me into Columbia or another top school!

where did you go to undergrad if i may ask (important)

I'm sorry for my previous comment. I've had a really, really crummy week, and have not been in good spirits. I hope you guys can understand. People should go to the schools they feel that best fit their situation. And everyone has different situations.

(Pretty please stop attacking my inbox. You all make valid points.)

Had the same AA as you with a higher TS (23). Our overalls are pretty much the same but my sGPA was higher. I would work on boosting up your EC's a bit, I've noticed they really like to see stuff on there that is out of the ordinary. Still I think you can get an interview there.

What the harm in applying?
I know it's extra money, but you can do it.
Nobody knows the outcome!

science gpa is lowish for columbia
dat slightly below average

you might get an interview its like 40interview/60not IMO but you never know rly

Best advice I ever received from this site:

If you're smart enough to get into an ivy league, you're smart enough to know not to go.
If you're smart enough to get into an Ivy League school, you'd be smart enough not to take advice for a major life decision from anonymous strangers on the internet at face-value...lol.

Apply. You got nothing to lose.

If you can answer "Why Combuia" in a genuine way and actually prove through essays and PS that you like their school. That will go a lot more than just all the extras and GPA and DAT.

Columbia puts heavy emphasis on the DAT. Comparing the average matriculated student at Columbia you are bellow. But regardless you should apply because you fall within the range of accepted students.

I disagree, I think GPA and DAT go a lot further than anything in your PS/essays. Numbers are definitely a priority for the school.
I meant this in a interview and post interview letters. Should have clarified. I believe my interest in my school helped me.
