my friend majored in the humanities in college but is hoping to get involved in physical therapy now. he started taking courses to prepare for physical therapy school, but is realizing now that his approach could take 4 years to complete all the required courses while he continues to work his current job.

does anyone know about doing a postbac program in order to complete the prerequisite courses for physical therapy school? are any specific postbac programs better or worse for this?

Thanks.

It's a possibility! The program will usually tailor the course work to an individuals needs. However, I would simply get involved in an undergrad program full-time and simply earn a second BS/BA to fulfill all the pre-req. work. This way he/she could go to a local college/university with the potential of paying a much lower tuition. My understanding is that anything you do after earning your first BS/BA will only qualify you for loans (for the most part). Four years is a long time to take all the required coursework and a lot can change in four years. Obviously a decision needs to be made considering all the different variables and needs in this particular persons life.

I have a BBA in Business, but want to get into health like Physical Therapy...Should I just go back and take pre reqs, become a post bacc, or major in a BS program? If I do a BS program, what one should I do? Seems like BS would take about 2 yrsd to complete..

I work full time and my employer as reimbursement but ONLY for degrees business related

has anyone been in my situation..if not, advice is appreciated

Just take the pre-requisites in a Community College part time which I'm currently doing. It's easier on the wallet and have better schedule esp. for peopel who work full time since they have evening and weekend classes.

Or if you don't mind doing full time, you can enroll in those post-bacc program.

Again, it depends on your friends needs. You mentioned something along the lines that in your friends current situation it would take them 4 years to complete the pre-reqs for PT. If you want to shorten the amount of time to lets say 2 years a decision needs to be made. You can either involve yourself in a Post-Bacc Program, which are usually targeted at medical students, or simply take the pre-reqs full time and potentially earn a second BS/BA. It if were me, I would complete the pre-reqs by myself over a two year period at the cheapest school locally. Again, if you can't go full time, it sounds like the person is back to a 4 year plan.
