Does anybody know if you go to the prometrics site and take the test do you get the questions and answers in a report so you can go over your test afterwards? Do you at least get a list of what YOU put down as your answer for each question, or is it just a score report?

I took the onsite practice test to get a feel for the testing center, work some more on prep and find out exactly where the test site is (kind of a dry run).

Overall, I dont think it's worth doing. At the end, you get a sheet nothing but a percent correct. It means nothing. If you want to see the questions again with the correct answers you can get that from NBME on the free test that comes with the orientation CD. To my understading, Kaplan has a document with the answers to the practice test. I dont have it but I know it's around.

I would suggest just doing the questions for free at home and using the NBME self assesment tests instead. The self assesment is nice because you get a breakdown by topic as well as a score that actually correlates to the Step 1 scoring.

Just my $0.02.

That is bull**** that they only give you a percent correct after spending 3 hours taking an exam. Would it be possible to write down all your answers before you leave so that you can see what you got wrong when you get home?

You can get the answers to the 150 practice questions here:

http://www.usmle.org/step1/2006Step1.pdf

This is in pdf format (and also has the questions). I'm not sure if the answers are in the software and cd download. I have heard that Kaplan has an answer set to these questions, it probably includes explanations beyond just the correct letter choice.

By the way, I'm surprised you find it helpful to take the NBME tests. Those don't have answers either, so you don't really LEARN anything by taking them, right?

anybody take the Kaplan diagnostic test and find it helpful?

guys,
where do you get the NBME self-assessment tests?

Thanks!

P.S. By the way, I think answers/explanations to the NBME self-assessments do exist - Kaplan has a version I believe. I can try to dig around and post it if I've got them. I just don't know where to go for getting the actual questions...
