hi,

i wanted to get some info on this...has anyone tried this?

i know anesthesia is 5 years in canada...but 4 years here...its 5 years because they do 1 year of critical care medicine...

its weird in canada...even family docs can do a 1 year fellowship in anesthesia :S

if anyone has done it...what did you have to do?

I'm not the best to answer to your question but I had residency colleagues from Canada and they went back home after (fellowship McGill). They returned after that in the USA...
There are position in Canada (depends of the province and need). For example in some provinces you don't need the extra year to practice. The need is huge and the salaries ( I cannot say income...) are not bad.
Regarding the FP doing anesthesia - YES they do it - a kind of CRNA-s practicing without supervision. glty
