Hey everyone,
I moved to USA 6 months ago, I am a senior and got accepted to 3 California State Schools (SJSU, SFSU, CSUEB) and waiting for other colleges reply. So what I am trying to say that I believe in myself and can get a good gpa in college, currently I have 3.8. gpa with 3 AP classes in high school and I think that going to community college and then transfer to UC Berkeley or Davis would be better choice than going to state school. So I am confused which pathway to Medical School would be better , cc>UC>Med School or State>Med School. Please help me guys and share any inforrmation that could help me.

If at all possible, take your premed requirements at a uni. All else (art, history, Spanish, etc) would be fine at a cc.

I will take biology major and for what I have heard that it doesn't matter if you take pre med course in cc or uni as long as you are taking higher biology classes in uni?

I cant get into best school now but I can if i go to cc, so what is your suggestion? Should I go to cc?

A 4 year university is preferable. The world doesn't end if that doesn't happen to be UC.

I want to attend UC because I am considering all the facts. What if I don't get into med school? I don't want to be a biology teacher for the rest of my life. At UC, atleast I can go to graduate school. Second thing is that state schools graduation rate is low and I am afraid of graduating school in 5 or 6 years :/

A school's graduation rate has nothing to do with whether you'll graduate on time or not.

That's all you.

a lot of Cal States' students (esp san jose state) are having trouble graduating on time because the classes they need are always impacted, so they have to delay graduation by a year or two to get into the classes required by their major. At UCs this isn't as big of a problem yet.

@hoihaie Yea you're right. Well what do you think about cc? All students transfer to 4 year college after 2 years or it takes 3 years for some students? If yes, whats the reason?

it depends entirely on you and how motivated you are. I've know people that transferred from CCs in NorCal to UCs in as little as a year, but I've also know people that took 4 years at a CC to transfer.

@hoihaie What aboutt these assessment tests? Are they easy to pass for a guy with 3.8 gpa? Should I be worried about it?
