Hey everybody,

I was just wondering if anyone could fill me in on the application process. I know its different for every school, but whatever you have to contribute would be great. I'm also in the process of emailing a few schools for information but I thought I'd ask here too. Thanks.

Are most podiatry schools rolling admissions? Does applying earlier give one a better chance of admission?

When is the earliest one can apply?

I am graduating in May 2013 and plan on taking my MCAT in August 2012. Is it advisable to apply after I graduate or immediately after I receive my MCAT score?

Don't email the schools. This is all information you could have gathered by yourself on the schools' websites, internet, and here. Ad coms don't look favorably upon people who ask questions that waste their time. If you've already sent them out, hope the reader of your email doesn't remember you/isn't an adcom.

The Adcoms don't get or answer these e-mails. The admissions department does. People are paid to answer these question at the schools. E-mail away.

Also, reading your posts in another forum suggests that DPM is a backup plan for you. You won't be happy with your back up plan. Make sure you are doing what you want to do before you apply...

Definitely...I've already been shadowing a local podiatrist for two days now, and my mom started her nursing career with one back home so I'm going to shadow him over spring break.

I understand what you're saying, but the whole reason medicine appeals to me is simply patient care. I could care less what I specialize in...although it is still a good idea to shadow.
