  1. Pre-Podiatry
Hello ~

So, I am new to posting on the SDN boards! I have spent a lot of time reading posts but finally registered myself.
Anyhow, I have a specific question that I have not seen exactly (at least when I have tried searching) on the boards.
It has been 10 years since I graduated from undergraduate school. I had taken many of the prerequisites during my first 2 years.
To prepare for the MCAT I need to take a few classes since it has been such a long time. I spoke with Des Moines Univ. and they said community college courses should be fine. So when AACPM calculates my course grades… do they use the community college course grade earned recently to replace my undergraduate course grade?
Also, as you may be thinking… my undergrad gpa isn’t stellar… it is a 2.9.
Any advice, suggestions, tips are appreciated!
Thanks!

Neepod,
welcome - You should start familiarizing yourself with pod related schools and associations. First website I recommend to get your jump start is:
http://www.aacpm.org
Go here to find the application/matriculation averages... find school links... find applications procedures and rules...
There are only 7 schools so you should look at each one to get the info straight from the school's website and this will give you an introduction to the programs.
The board is really useful but it would be a shame if you didn't get these websites to extract the info yourself.
yes on the replacement of scores...yes cc courses are the same equivalence as university.... look at the stats to get your idea of your gpa situation..calculate your future gpa based on assumed replacement scores..then look at the mcat scores to see what you could swing in order to make the resulting gpa more enticing.

You will have different grade sections for each institution and at each point in your career eg. school A undergrad GPA and school B postbacc GPA and possibly school A again with graduate GPA. Hope that helps. Next, I would recommend a good Kaplan book for the MCAT to go along with your CC courses. It is good to see that you will not just have to know the information, but how to use it. Don't sweat over this stuff. Just do it and apply asap. Good luck. PM me if you need anything.

Like spooge said, get a Kaplan book.
I have heard that the Kaplan course is good as well. Then again, I have also heard that it sucks. Upward trend is good. Kill the MCAT to show that you can quickly get into study mode.

:welcome: and :luck:
