I am currently a sophomore at the University of Maryland and I am planning to take physics over the summer. However, I am debating whether I should take it at Maryland or a local community college. Do dental schools frown upon pre-reqs at community colleges? It has come to my attention that some schools do not even accept pre-req credits at cc! Is there a list that anyone is aware of that I can access? Thank you so much!

I don't know of any lists but most if not all schools will prefer you to take the pre-reqs at a 4 year university. And yes you are correct, some schools don't even accept them. So I would be safe and take them at the University. Let's face it, if you can't do the pre-reqs at a University how are you supposed to get through dental school?! Good luck...

I'm a non-traditional applicant taking all the prereqs at a local community college. I've taken chem, bio, physics, micro, a&p and am taking ochem. I'll probably take biochem and genetics at the community college next year as well. I know I'm putting myself at a disadvantage by taking them there as opposed to UW or Seattle U, but the quality of teaching has been superb. While I won't be able to attend Tufts, Harvard, or a couple other east coast schools, I'll just focus on applying to the other 50 schools. Unless you plan on applying to the 4 or 5 schools that don't accept CC credits, I think you'll be fine taking physics over the summer at a CC.
