Just wondering if I have to tailor my personal statement for prelim or transitional program applications. Anyone have this info on good authority?

Thanks!

I pretty much used the same PS, except that I just added a separate short paragraph at the end stating why I'm applying to Prelim Med or transitional. why i want to do those vs. prelim surgery.
I wasn't sure either, but don't think it's too big of a deal.

i was told by an attending at a 2-4 program that you can use the same personal statement. they know that you are not interested in medicine -- they know you want to do em. i don't know about tailoring it towards medicine vs. surg though i think for medicine people, it's obvious why one would choose medicine. anyhow, they are looking more for a hard working, reliable person who won't cause too much trouble for a year.

(i applied a few years ago and used the exact same personal statement. got about 8 of 9 prelim/transitional interviews)
