Is it okay to take some prerequisites while abroad? If the university in Australia offers courses in Biology and I take them and they are transcripted through an American university, is it okay to complete this requirement there? As long as I take the course at an accredited university, does it matter where that university is located?

More specifically,
If I study at University of Sydney and Butler University provides the transcript afterwards, taking Biology there is just as good as taking it in the US, right? Or is this frowned upon by admissions committees?

Probably technically ok, but I would be surprised if that didn't put you at a disadvantage...

Probably not a good idea. Most med schools will not take international pre-reqs (not including Canada in this!). This is a major reason why a lot of pre-meds never fit studying abroad into their hectic schedules.

Edit: Also why risk having to take the course over again because some med schools wont accept it later on? It would just be an added burden (and expense) to you. Play it safe and take it at your university.
