I want to be positive but at this pt I only receive one interview at buffalo and was waitlisted, but it is time to prepare for my 3rd try.
I just want to see should I add any school to my list or take off school from my list. Here is my stat first:
cGPA:3.58
sGPA:3.45
DAT:
Bio:17 GC:19 OC:19 PAT:21 RC:24 QR:18
volunteer/dental experiences: around 500
My list:
1) Buffalo, 2) Stony Brook, 3) NYU, 4) Columbia, 5) NJDS, 6) Temple, 7) Tuft, 8) Nova, 9) Boston, 10) Pittsburgh, 11) West Virigina, 12) VCU
This cycle only heard from buffalo only
NOVA and NJDS for some reason rejected b4 DEC 1
What school should I add or take out?

You have fairly good DAT scores, but your sciences are pretty low. You should try to retake the DAT and get those at 18 or 19+.

As for schools to take out/add. I wouldn't take out any. But do add perhaps 10+ with a bunch of ones that you will likely get into (ie. UNLV, Arizona, etc). Also, don't forget to submit on May 15.

I would definitely retake DAT and bring the score up to 20 in science section. Your GPA is not bad. It might be helpful if you are in Master's program though. I heard school loves that degree, especially if you were non-science major in undergraduate. That's what I'm planning to do. Get into official post-bacc enhancement program or 1-year master's program. Don't give up. There are many people who are in same boat as u r, including me lol

Is it too late to do this? And what kind of programs are typically 1-year or would be appropriate? And are these competitive? My dreams are just about squashed and I have been trying to look into this idea but I really don't know anything about this stuff?

Dat way too low for Columbia. Replace with Maryland.

BU med school has a Graduate Medical Sciences 1-year master's program (I go to BU) - I've been looking into these, too. They have a track in oral health sciences apart from the regular med sciences, so it might give you an even better leg up. Here's their link - it also says the deadline for the app to start in September is April 31, so you're in luck! NYU's is 2 years, I believe. New York Medical College also does a master's program like this, but I'm not sure how long it is. Google it, see what you can find. Good luck!

I did the Masters in Medical Sciences at BU and I though it was a great program. I would recommend it especially if you have a low gpa.

I currently thinking trying to apply for a dental hygiene program, that will give alot of dental exp. will the school like that? but dental hygiene is at least a 2 yr program will that be bad?

O yea by the way anyone know which school weight less upon on DAT?

State schools weigh less on DATs while private schools are the opposite generally.

Do you know how many apply vs how many are accepted to BU's program?

Unfortunately, I don't. Their overall GMS website isn't the most informative/easiest to navigate. Sorry!

hmmm i have literally spent like 6 hours looking for programs, thanks a lot for your help. Im not interested in going to the east coast so im looking either midwest or south and its so hard to know what kind of masters would be beneficial or if they are competitive orwhat.. i dont want to spend another 300 sending out a bunch of Masters apps

Tulane CMB - 1 year masters in New Orleans. They are currently taking applications till about May I believe. If you have any questions feel free to ask as I am about to finish up.

OP add way more schools apply to at least 20 next time around. Some to consider adding - MWU, Western, UDM, UMD, ASDOH, LLU, and Marquette

I would take out stonybrook, it is very competitive-I think their class size is only 34??? I agree with the poster above--add Midwestern, Western and Marquette. I would also recommend adding ASDOH, but only if you have a lot of community service.

Thz i guess i will take out columbia and stony brook
stony brook i really now don't see myself have a chance since their avg is so high
Columbia is it true that they put way too much focus on research than clinical exp?
