this thread is for people who are preparing for nbde part 1 exam in December, please try to share some thoughts, students who have got their admissions can also help us out as of the preparation tips , the things to overcome in this highly competetive exam about the materials required, all those stuffs .

hey treasure,
oh even i feel biochem is little boring may be becoz there are too many things to remember and more to imagine ( i meant no diagramatic representation like anator physio) it is like that, i dont knowmy speed is worse than a snail, i dont know may be it should get compensated coz v have started a bit early comparatively , wat r u studying, i mean the study materials, iam with kaplan

I feel the same way....... I am using kaplan notes too...... Today was my first day doing biochem.... & already I have a headache!! I was doing micropath before this.... I have to tackle biochem this time... don't know how??

Anyway, keep in touch maybe we can motivate each other..... are u reading biochem right now too?

all the best for ur prep: . what i followed was --i did papers first to assess the topics then i did kaplan and then i switched to decks and finally did papers again.
lets all be together in this thread and aim for those magic number score.

what r ur plans about taking cbt or paper based exam.
what else have u done so far.

thats ok, i think v can do it , , getting those magical numbers will be really easy if v put in hard work and sincerity in correct proportions, so lets all try doing this, then i have started with physio , i read through GI physiology and then studying cvs now, i want to really take some time on this becoz they r all important chapters i am going in a very slow pace, i dont know i think i have to speed up, wat r u guys up to ?

hi sharmila,
these days i am doing micro,immunology to be more precise.i think we should read slowly and nicely that should be our way of study as we have good time period for our exams and we should do everything in a very good manner.

hey guys,
thank u for your responses, this is a real good way and v get motivated too, thats right v need a steady study so that v dont spend much time in revising it over and over again, v started early to do the study in a very methodical and in a relaxed way, but try to finish our days quota.

but what i really wonder is whether it is really necessary to even start thinking of the exam which is to be taken as far as december! at the rate of enthusiasm you guys are showing, i guess you can either take it up in july itself.....i mean NBDE especially the part 1 isnt really worth all this....adding to it, the part 1 studies really suck! so may be i could say that you guys can really chill out now and start off in september-ish.....if you wanna take it up in december...

normally the latest of the scores are considered.

i have also given a reading to micro and immun:,now i am planning to start with da and occlusion by staring with gpg's mandibular relations.lets see.

U know what? my preparations are running really parallel to yours. I too gave one reading to Micro path except Immuno.... & currently I am doing dental anat & biochem. The reason I am doing these too simultaneously is that I find biochem tough so everytime I get saturated with it I read some dental anat.......

Sharmila, I might too take the Cbt in oct....
Have u thought of taking the toefl before or after part1??
Did u get the ECE evaluation done yet?

I think no one knows too much about cbt just yet. I read in the ada site that it begins in april but the better version where u have flexibility of using the amount of time u want between the two sections in each session will be available by May of this year.

Also there are a couple of threads posted where the cbt has been discussed. U could read that too......

its good that u r doing the same subjects.now i have started with anat ,and after the micro,i am feeling a good change.may be that towards the end of anat i might be feeling the same thing as i felt towards the end of micro--monotony.

decks '04 is with me, i think the correcttions are with DA and occlusion where they say that the TMJ related topic is quite abbreviated. please feel free to ask anything about the new decks,

R u guys going through the decks alone or u have started with kaplan , then going to decks , coz u r really fast thats y , anyway thats good to have the spirit.

I am just reading kaplan for now as I do not remember anything about these subjects from dental school..... I finished my BDS in 1996!!!!!!

I have just started doing a little bit of decks everyday....

Did u have the old decks already sharmila? If so, could u let us know how different are the new ones & if they are worth buying?I have the 2001 decks......

hi sharmila,
thankz 4 the info.can u please tell us 1 deck a day of dental anat daily.
so that we get updated from the new decks.that ways even u will be able to retain each word of decks before the exam.
actually i have never studied the short cut way so i am doing texts more or less,i know that this much is not required but i can't help myself the other way.i am pretty sure that i am wasting my time but this is me.after doing the text ,i do the decks.

if any body has another idea to how to know the diff b/w new and older version of decks ,using this forum,
please come forward and share,so that we all get benefitted.

sure, i think ill start a new thread and put three questions everyday in it about DA, COZ WHEN I ASKED THE DENTAL DECKS PEOPLE THEY TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO BIG CHANGE , except the DA part which is in anatomic sciences, please dont worry and go ahead with the 2001 decks, and the rest ill put it up
