Hello all,

I have IB/GCE transfer credits for first yr Calculus and Physics. They do appear on my transcript as well. I wanted to know if I need to retake them for application to most D-schools. I do not want to take them as that would mean an extra semester before graduation. Any thoughts?

bump...
im quite worried for the above...if anyone can shine some light or has gone through a similar situation...plz let me know.

You have 2 options...

1. You retake those courses at your 4 year institution since some schools don't accept IB/AP/GCE credits to fulfill prereqs. 2 such schools are Pittsburg and Tufts. For Tufts, this is stated pretty clearly on their website. However, some schools accept the credits as long as they appear on your university transcipt. Check with the schools you are interested in by wither calling or emailing them.

2. Take upper year courses of equivalent credit value as a substitute. For example, in your case since you already got credits for intro physics and calculus, take a full year of upper year physics and calculus to as a substitute. Tufts and Pitt told me to do that when I contacted them.

Again, make sure you double check with the schools you are interested in. Best of luck!
