I've read that several schools require college algebra/english course in college. I've completed AP lit and AP language in HS, and is counted for credit at my university. I took college algebra and precalc HS, but it does not count for credit at my university, as it was not a required course, and just warranted placement in calc. Do I need to retake any of these classes? English I wouldn't mind retaking, but I tutor people in college algebra, and would be the most pointless class ever.

I don't know of any school that specifically requires college algebra. They require college math, which calculus or statistics is sufficient. For English, not all schools accept AP credits, so it's better to look into each school requirements or just taking 2 semesters worth of English courses.

Stupid question alert! Can I take two semesters of english in one semester?

You can but i think some schools would like to see English taken in different semesters.

Taking both in one semester won't get me screened out though, right?

No you will be fine. Prereqs are needed before matriculation, not applying. Taking both English courses in one semester is generally fine.
