When you assign your prereq on the application for each school, do you have to assign courses that are consistent in its course sequence, or do you simply assign the prereq you got the best grade in?

For example under Chemistry I and Chemistry II: can I assign an inorganic and organic course. Or would it have to be inorganic I and inorganic II?

It is in your best interests to assign the courses that are the closest to what is recommended in the prerequisite requirements. Our program will take the higher grade of two courses, if a course was retaken. Occasionally, when we see that an applicant has a higher level course (say Human Biology 201) when they have previously taken General Biology 101, we will redesignate the Human Biology course as satisfying the prerequisite for Biology with a lab. We would only do that if the higher-level course had a higher grade.

This approach allows us to ensure that each applicant, who presents with multiple courses, presents the admissions committee with the best record within the parameters of the required prerequisite courses. We have found this approach to be mildly/moderately helpful for applicants records.

So, on the application end, select the courses that most closely fit the prerequisites, then allow admissions personnel to redesignate courses only where applicable when they are calculating a required coursework gpa. Good luck!
