Hello,

I searched the forum for this answer and didn't see it. I have a friend that is applying to dental school this summer. She noticed (or, was reminded) when she looked at her transcript that she got a C- in Gen Chem I lab (1 credit) back in 2006. She re-took the lecture portion for a better grade, but left the lab because her school said that labs are fine with a C-, it is the lecture portion that needs to be repeated.

She has since completed a master's degree at a different school. Does this lab need to be re-taken before she applies or can it slide since it was so long ago? She has since of course finished her degree and completed the master's program with tons of graduate science courses.

Thanks! (she doesn't have an SDN account by the way).

If I were your friend, I would call the dental schools she is thinking of applying to (talk to someone on the admissions committee) and ask them what they think, but I think the general rule that people go by is that any prerequisite course with a C- or worse needs to be retaken, because schools generally like to see prerequisite courses passed with a C or better in order for students to be able to matriculate.
