What do you guys think of AP Princeton Review Biology Exam book for studying biology part of DAT??
I've just looked through it at boarders and it looked pretty nice and organized.
I was wondering if anyone used it to study bio for DAT.
What do you guys think??

Yes, I used it and thought it was great! I read in the DAT forum that cliff's AP bio book was good but I had the Princeton Review book laying around from when I took AP bio in high school...so I used it instead of buying another one. Honestly, I think Princeton Review should make an entire series of DAT study books because their style is soooo much better than kaplan's. I took the kaplan course and kept getting 17-20 in bio on practice exams (kaplan, top score, and achiever). Then I read the princeton review AP bio book a week before my test and got a 28 in bio on the real DAT so I'd say its pretty good. Good luck!

wow.. seriously?
that's pretty amazing.
do you think just studying AP princeton review biology exam book will give me at least 21+ on biology?

Well its hard to tell what factors helped me score so high in the bio section. I studied by using my old bio textbooks (I took a lot of bio courses, which also helped), kaplan book, and then the Princeton AP Biology book. All I can say is that the kaplan book is very vague and not thorough at teaching biology (it sort of just tells you the topics you need to study but doesn't give you the actual information regarding the topics). I found that the princeton AP bio book did a good job of summarizing all the main concepts in biology clearly and concisley (which helps because the DAT doesn't test bio topics in great depth, it just covers a lot of random bio topics so you need to know them all). However, a note of caution....if you are still confused about a topic look it up in an old bio text book or Google it (if you want the easy way out, lol). Conclusion--yes, the Princeton AP bio book is awesome and you should definately use it to study for the bio section! If bio isn't your strong area, make sure you use other resources as well. Good luck!

What do you recommend??
AP Cliffs Bio vs. AP Prince Review Bio

I never used Cliff's AP bio, I just heard it was good on the DAT forums...but since I already had Princeton AP bio laying around I just used that. I glanced at Cliff's when I was at the bookstore and I didn't really like it. I absolutely love Princeton Review though (I just like their approach and writing style a lot better than any other brand of study books). Princeton review got me through all my AP tests back in high school so I figured it would help for the DAT too. If I had to retake the DAT I think I would call up the Princeton Review and beg them to make DAT review books, that's how much I love their books (and no, they don't pay me to say that I just love them, lol).

oh wow.
alright. thanks for the info.
do you think just by studying AP Princeton Review (BIO) will get me at least 21+ on the Bio section??

Well the first thing I did was check with the ADA to see what topics are actually tested on the bio section. People on SDN always said that it tests such "random" information...so I looked up the topics: (go to appendix E on pg.41 for the list)

http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/dat_guide_2010.pdf

I simply went through the list of topics and read about them in my general bio book (i think it was campbell-reese). but if I had a better book (i.e. a genetics book), then I would look up information on that topic in the specific book. After going through all the topics, I used the Princeton AP bio book to recap/summarize everything I needed to know. At times, I had missed some topics and the AP bio book taught me the areas that I missed.

And I used the Kaplan course books first but after being so dissapointed by kaplan's preparation I realized that I could just go to the source (the ADA) to figure out what to study. Good luck!
