my favorite ivy has got to be princeton, i was just curious as to why every other ivy has a medical program except princeton? i would assume that theyd be interesting in branching to medicine as a graduate program..

Dunno, but I really wish they did. It would help to dilute out the number of applicants that have huge numbers (they like the ivys! haha)

Very simple. Princeton does not have GRADUATE schools. It is just an undergraduate program. The other ivies with lower emphasis on grad school are Brown and Dartmouth which both have med schools though.

Ditto. They invest a lot more in their undergraduates.

Princeton was created to educates students who aspire to be diplomats… so basically they can’t.

Of course they have GRADUATE Schools (Woodrow Wilson School, for instance), they just don't have PROFESSIONAL schools.

i think they do have some, but it may be affiliated or connected in some way with RWJMS. or maybe its the other way around. i think RWJMS's md/phd program works though princeton or something.

I mean we had PHD and masters candidates in every department, but Princeton is really ALL about the undergrads. They use all of the money to give every opportunity possible to the undergrads for research and travel and student groups and events. I'm sure princeton is a great place to go as a grad student, but it's 100% better for the undergrads. They wouldn't open professional schools, because that would detract from the undergrad experience.

At Mount Sinai, I learned that Mount Sinai was originally planned to be affiliated with Princeton, but because they are in a different states was not able to go through with this. That's why Mount Sinai is affiliated with NYU even though NYU already has its own medical school.

Princeton also has an MD/PhD program with Robert Wood Johnson (clinical training at RWJ, PhD work on the Princeton campus).

Rice follows a comparable format (to that of Princeton's) partly b/c the Princeton Adminstration helped establish our charter. Hence they are our sister school.

While I was still an undergrad at Rice there was talk of Baylor officials wanting to incorporate at least part of the Rice board into management of their medical school, and in turn "Rice" would be (somehow) added to the name of the school. However, such a move would not have matched Rice's vision at the time.

Rice does offer joint MD/PhD programs with Baylor

Princeton has a graduate school and 3 professional schools (engineering, woodrow wilson, and architecture).

They had a law school for 3 years back in the 1800s I think.

No plans for law, business, or med schools there, although they have a graduate finance program.

its a shame, i would love to see princeton as one of the new medical school programs instead of hofstra (no offense hofstra, but i cant stand you guys in lax)

It's because Princeton is swimming in money and they dont see a reason to make a change.
