Hi everyone, first off, congrats to all May takers with their scores this week!

As exam date approaches for me and others, I was hoping to get some feedback from those who did well on the MCAT and have used Khan Academy's practice passages. I have more resources than I can use from now until my exam date on 8/21, and I need some help prioritizing what to do.

How important would you say it is to do the Khan passages? If you had to pick between doing the Khan passages vs another few FLs vs some other practice resource in the month before your exam, what would you do?

Thanks for any advice!

There is no simple answer to this Q and it has been asked many time previously so that is why people may be hesitant to jump in. Generally as you get closer to test day more of your time should be spent taking timed practice tests and then reviewing and analyzing your results. This can be done via full lengths, section tests or even half section tests.

Khan academy is not useful at all for timed testing or real MCAT simulation. However, the passages are good for some targeted, MCAT style questions (though the passages vary widely in how good they are, Free = Free) on a specific science topic you can spot by the title of the passage.

You wouldn't want to take more than 2 FLs a week and even then keeping that up for a month would be exhausting. I usually have my students take 1 FL a week the final month along with 4 more timed sections spread out across the week. In between, you can use Khan passages to target science weakness you noticed in your most recent practice test as well as keep your CARS skills sharp with short practice sets.

In the end, both are good but closer to test day I would focus more on timed, MCAT simulations (half section, section, FL) with targeted practice (Khan) in between as indicated by your performance.

Good luck!
