pritzker admissions

I interviewed there mid-october and they told us we won't hear until Feb (i think by an update email from admissions if i remember right).

they are backed up beyond belief since their applicant numbers are way up.

Found it: Remember I interviewed mid-october.

First, let me begin by saying this email does NOT contain your admission decision! I am writing to let you know that your admission decision will not be made by the Admissions Committee prior to the winter holidays. There is not a problem or concern with your application—the committee simply has a long line of applicants awaiting consideration. Although we realize that you are anxiously awaiting the decision, the Committee wants to be certain to give each applicant a thoughtful and deliberate review.

I know that you are likely checking your email in-box and the Applicant Status Portal page with increasing frequency, so although I know you would rather hear the decision ASAP, I thought you would appreciate knowing that you will not have to approach your email or mailbox with trepidation for the next few weeks 🙂. We fully expect your application to be reviewed during the early-February Committee meeting. Therefore, you should expect to know your admission decision by February 15th at the latest.

cowme - if you dont mind me asking - what was their admission decision?

I was accepted, and I think it was around 7 weeks after my interview. I'm sorry to hear about you all waiting, it must be so frustrating!! I wish you all the best of luck!!!!

Weird...I interviewed after you (first week of November) and I got the same email, except mine said that the decisions would be announced the third week of January. I think that was last week, and I have not heard anything.

Its possible my interviewer could not be available when the adcomm meets?
Maybe they're putting me in a special pile for potential scholarship recipients?😎
Maybe maybe maybe everything

I interviewed mid-November, and I got that email (saying I would be reviewed in the early feb. meeting). I am dying to hear from them! Has anyone who has received phone call acceptances remember which day of the week they were called? Does anyone know what day of the week they usually meet? I thought it was Mondays, but I'm not sure.
February can't come quickly enough!

I was asking those same crazy questions for Hopkins back in October. What day, who called, ah. you'll just drive yourself nuts. hopefully nobody actually answers the question bc then you'll stare at your phone on the day stated and wonder why it hates you.

I will tell you guys that Pritzker is not so good with the phone calls. My status page updated saying that I had a decision, and I didn't get an acceptance call until over 2 weeks later. The status page will be the best indicator. Yes/Yes is a good sign.

does the status page still say "yes" for final decision if you are waitlisted? and also, do they email you? or snail mail?

Yeah,
I interviewed in early october...still waiting. Has anyone heard anything recently??

Snail mail, sometimes with a phone call.

For everyone so far, Yes/Yes has meant an acceptance, and Yes/Unknown has meant a waitlist.

^^^^ thanks

I wonder when their "early february" adcom meeting is? I got the email a while back too...

I got a Yes/Unknown along with a snail mail letter saying that I was a continued applicant about a week later

when you say "waitlist" do you really mean "continued applicant" or do you actually mean "waitlist?" Have they started waitlisting people yet? Have they rejected people post-interview yet?

I meant continued applicant.

fyi...they said they have accepted about 200 people and may get to 300...so there are still a decent number of spots left

Wow, 200 already and they're not getting to my app for like another month....and I interviewed at the beginning of December.....it really does pay to apply really early for this med school stuff doesn't it...dang. Wish my prof wouldn't have been stuck on a grant deadline for a month....alas!

it is my understanding that being a continued applicant is very different from being on the waitlist. is it anyone else's?

that being said, do we really think that at every single adcom meeting they're going to discuss all of us continuing applicants?! (how many are there of us anyway? a lot??)

anybody have any idea about this stuff? and also, when they're meeting (so that i can obsess on that day 🙂)

I think they are re-reviewing those of us on hold right now, which may drag out the process for you continued applicants. There has been a decent number of decisions for held applications the past 2 weeks, so I would say, at least a chunk of the admissions staff is focused on this right now.

in the chat they held...they also mentioned almost 100% match into the specialty of their choice and a very high percentage get their #1 choice residency position

Under final committee decision had been made it only says yes. what does one yes mean?! I've been crossing my fingers since feb 1st to hear good news from them. Is this one yes bad news?!

if you have interviewed and it says interview decision made: yes and committee decision: yes then likely an acceptance...what exactly does the whole page say

oooh, haha. I totally misunderstood what people were saying. It does say yes under final decision for interview invitation as well. omg, omg, omg ... i hope it's good news!!

if you went for an interview already...everyone who has gotten yes/yes has been accepted!

This sucks, ive been waiting for so long. They say a decision will be made by Feb 15th on my file.

According to the status page they haven't reviewed my file yet post-interview.

OMG IT JUST UPDATED! I'm too much of a whine machine.

sweet I got in! YES/YES!

i got the yes/yes a few minutes ago!

let me know if you all here good news! I would like to know if you might be my classmates! They will call you for good news...it usually takes a few days for the call...I got mine the day after it turned yes/yes,,,area code is 773

i'm already anxious about this and now i'm gonna have to wait to find out for sure....

Mine also was updated today to Yes/Yes. Does it also say Yes/Yes for people who got rejected?

a lot of Yes/Yes today...hope they did not change their strategy

Er, if mine still says yes/no, does that mean I got rejected? 🙁

Hmm, has UChicago even given out post-interview rejections yet, or do they have "continued applicants"? My decision was supposed to be ready by 2/15 also, so I would assume that my file would be reviewed at the same time as everyone else's. Oh well, I'll just check back later today. *crosses fingers*

i do not think they have given post-interview rejections yet

was there an acceptance email or just a phone call?

Oh sweet jesus I just got a yes/yes, too!!! I HOPE they're not giving out rejections, yet! 😱 Has anyone tried to call them to find out the decision? Do they tell you to bugger off until you either get a phone call or a rejection email?? I'm tempted to stop into the office (I live on campus)....bad idea? I've got a great scholarship offer from RFU and I have to tell them really soon if I don't want it...if I get into Pritzker, that is!!

I would think if you are accepted you will get a call in the next few days

Well, I was too antsy to wait, so I just went across the street to the admissions office and asked....I'M IN!!!😀 😀 😀
Pritzker here I come!😍

Wtf, I guess I'm the only person whose page still says Yes/No despite having gotten the e-mail about February 15. Looks like a rejection or waitlist. Seriously, does anyone else have Yes/No even after the decision should've been made? I want to call about this, but I'm afraid it'll make me even more of a nuisance.

EDIT: Did any of you who got the Yes/Yes today interview in late November?

Still "unknown". 🙁
This makes it the second time I'll be a "continued applicant".

Should I just call and ask whether I've been rejected? Sorry to be so bothersome - I'm kinda freaking out.

It probably won't hurt if you called. But they might just tell you that your file hasn't been reviewed yet, or something like that.

did anyone receive the phone call yet?
