Hi,

So I just received an LoR from my attending on my medicine subI. It is very strong letter according to my Dean's office. However the LoR is on the attending's personal letterhead from his private practice, rather than hospital letterhead. Is this an issue?? I have heard that using official letterhead gives more weight to the LoR.

Thanks for any advice.

I know some schools indicate on the coverletter that letters should be on hospital department letterhead. No idea if it's given any weight. But I'd be concerned that someone who just glanced and didn't read would assume the letter was from a private practitioner and not academia. Not that that will make a huge difference, but for certain paths perhaps it wouldn't be as desirable.

Would love to get your opinion on this issue. The LoR is on official letterhead from his private practice. Is there a big difference, between that and offcial hospital letterhead. He also mentions he was my attending in the LoR.

Thanks so much for any advice...
