I forget the term, but there's a term I've seen on here that's been used to refer to residency programs where residents spend an extraordinary amount of time grossing or doing autopsies instead of doing cases and learning. Does anyone know of any such programs? I'm trying to think of schools to take off of my list. Assume I've applied to every program in the country.

The term is scut. Every program will have some. Every job post training has some. What you want to avoid is programs with lots.

Thanks mlw! Does anyone know of any programs that have lots of scut work?
If it hasn't been done here before, I think it'd be cool to start a list of such programs.

Look at the IMG ratio. If its high, then that program might be scutty.
If the program is in NYC, its gonna be a scut factory.
There's a thread somewhere on here that lists a bunch of programs that have too much grossing scut and not enough tutelage or resident responsibility. Go dig that up. It'll give you an idea of what programs to avoid.
