numerous classmates have taken step 1 recently at the local prometric and the proctors claim you are NOT allowed to write during the tutorial on the whiteboard. I'm pretty sure the ppl working is just misinformed and that you are, since DIT and lots of people on here/review companies advise writing equations before the test starts etc

I like to have all my formulas laid out on it before an exam, since even though I probly know them without, I'm a super slow test taker and blank on equations/easy math, so the extra time saved is more than worth it for me.

Does anyone have experience dealing with prometric? Should I email NBME etc, will I get an asterisk next to my score if I write things out anyway? I think maybe there is a rule with the MCAT that you can't and the people at the center aren't always all that aware of all the rules for each one

Find the NBME guidelines online. Take them to prometric. Tell prometric to stfu.

Pretty sure I read in the 2014 bulletin you cannot write on the white board at anytime between blocks.

You cannot start a block with out a clean white board.

You are not aloud to erase anything from your white board during the block.

Seriously? You aren't allowed to erase? Wtf.

This does not sound correct. See this link, where you can find this excerpt:
Laminated writing surfaces and markers issued for USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3 are to be used for making notes and/or calculations during the testing session. They should only be used at your assigned testing station, and only after you have begun your examination by entering your CIN.

Nowhere in that bulletin does it mention not writing in between blocks, or starting blocks with a clean white board, or not erasing. If you can't erase, you are allowed to get a fresh white board to write on.

Hmm, curious about this as well because I was planning on writing a few things down during the tutorial or on my first break.
