What are some of the pros and cons of taking MCAT in AM and PM administration? Just curious... is it only if you are not a morning person, should take it in the afternoon?

I took my first one in the afternoon and second kn the morning. this time, I signed up for the morning again. why? I'm not a morning person, but waiting until afternoon was excrutiating for me.

its just a matter of preference. I never thought I would prefer morning administration, but it works for me.

for me, morning is simply when i'm most alert so that's when i decided to take it. Also it's unlikely I'll sleep much the night before so I don't want to have to wait till noon and get tired =)

I am taking it in the afternoon, and I usually like to do a stress relieving activity before exams. So I think taking it in the afternoon will give me plenty of time to rid myself of all stress and anxiety before my test, and thus be instrumental in eliminating those stupid calculation mistakes in the physical science section.

In the afternoon test slot you can leave the test center once you are done and go straight to the bars.

I agree.

I waited around and got more nervous and tired.

Get it done and then you can start drinking earlier if need be!! 😀

i am not a morning person

the first time i took it, i got a 30 (morning)..second time i got a 40 (afternoon)

improvement mostly from studying and good luck..but i hafta say, taking it in the afternoon helped..

If you're used to sleeping at 2am and waking up at 10am, you'll definitely want to take the PM administrations.

I wouldn't say that it totally true. I am usually not a morning person, but for tests and stuff I really prefer to just get it out of the way. If I had to wait until the PM administration I would go crazy.

I did the morning one because I tend to focus best during that time period. Also, I was so nervous that I didn't sleep much the night before. It would have been excruciating for me to have to wait all morning as well.

yeah, I agree with this completely. i chose the morning administration for the same reason

I live in a big city and I was too afraid of getting stuck in morning rush hour traffic. I didn't want to be late and thought a relaxing morning would work best for me.

afternoon worked best for me

I'm used to waking up at 1 pm on weekends. THink about it... you can still wake up in the morning, but you have more time to chill before the exam. I'd hate to get up and be rushed there immediately.

you don't have to "wait around" if you're asleep. I usually go to bed at 2 and wake up at ten or eleven. I plan to do the same the day of the MCAT. Last time I took it in the morning and I was falling asleep by 9:30.

ha ha I never went to bed early as a kid except on Christmas Eve because the sooner I went to sleep, the sooner it seemed that santa came and the less agonizing of a wait.

PM definitely. Went to bed at 2AM, got up at 11AM, felt like a million bucks. For the last two years, I've rarely had to get up earlier that 10AM, so having to take a test at 8AM would SUCK.

I typically don't go to bed until 8am, so this time I'm going for the 2pm spot. Only downsides are that the test center is one I can't ride my bike to, and come June 13th the humidity will be killer in the afternoon.

I have to say that being a morning person doesn't matter all that much. You'll have so much adrenaline going through your veins on test day it's hard to be sluggish regardless of what time you take it.

I will be taking it at 8AM (only available time slot left in my area)... I drink 4 cups of coffee (no sugar or cream, etc) every morning...cannot function without it. I will have to reduce my intake to maybe 1 cup during the few weeks prior to MCAT so I don't keep getting up for breaks.🙁
