Pros/Cons for nurses working at VA (veteran affairs) hospitals?

Hi all,

For those of you who have worked at the VA hospital, as nurses or other healthcare providers:

-How was your overall experience working there?

-What were the pros/cons?

-Did you get lots of great learning experience there?

-Is it a good option for a new grad RN or would it be better for me to go to a public/private university hospital, especially if my ultimate goal is to become a NP?

-How is the pay compared to other hospitals?
