Hello everyone,

Pre-dental student here writing on behalf of a friend who is interested in becoming a hospital/health administrator. She just graduated from college with a psychology degree and is preparing to begin a career in health administration. She decided on this career path recently. She does have a bit of experience working in a medical office and doing administrative work at a local health center.

First off, she does not intend on getting an MD. Should she go for an MPH, MBA, or MHA? Second, many programs seek work experience. Is work experience the greatest factor when it comes to admissions? How many years of experience should she have?

Most importantly, what should she be doing now? Should she begin applying now or should she be looking for jobs in health administration? If she should be looking for a job, exactly how does she go about breaking into the field?

You may want to move this to the "Public Health-Master's and Doctoral" forum. That's where the MHA, MPH etc. info is.
