"Prospective Re-applicant" status- anyone else receive this in rejection letter?

One school I applied to put my status as "prospective re-applicant". Has anyone been in this situation and what did you do the following year? I'm just wondering how much of an advantage, if any, this gives me in re-applying to the same school? If I reapply but still do not get in, do I lose this status? Help? Thanks!
