I am studying some things about Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and am having difficulty understanding what the difference is between pseudohermaphroditism and virilization?
What causes these things?
How do females and males preset?

Thanks for the help

I think pseudo.. refers to genetically male with low androgen (like 17 oh deficiency). We start out female then testosterone gives male secondary sexual characteristics. virilization to xx with 21 or 11 deficiency.. Correct me if I'm wng

Virilization = puberty.

Undervirilization is a form of male pseudohermaphroditism. One example of this is 5-a-reductase deficiency (in a 46XY person), which results in a deficient conversion from T to DHT. DHT is primarily important in forming external genetalia in males. So this person would either have ambiguous or female genetalia, but be male otherwise.
