Hi,
I'm researching a couple of different psychiatric assessments for schizophrenic patients with acute agitation: the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), in particular the excited component; and the Behavioral Activity Rating Scale (BARS). I've been able to find general info on the scales and validity, but what I need to know is how are these assessments performed in a clinical setting?
Is there a set of questions that the patients are asked that results in the score? Is it clinical observation? A combination? Any details that you can provide would be helpful, since I'm not sure I'm asking the right specific questions here, but in general, I need to know how a doctor comes up with the patient's score on both of these scales.
Thanks in advance!
