The 2013 Course Subjects for ADEA includes neuropsychology, biopsychology, cognitive psychology, and brain and behavior (any dept) in the biology section for your BCP GPA. Is this new or have they always included it?

I'm a psych major studying pre-dental and I always thought they did not include any psych courses (classes that are PSYCXXX). If this is true, this will be a huge boost to my BCP GPA.

New. They weren't there last year. Good news for you.

I mean if you look underneath the Biology section of that chart, it clearly states that neuropsychology, biopsychology, and cognitive psychology are all part of the Biology portion of the BCP GPA.

I'd be careful to think this is a cure-all for a low sci gpa. Most universities recalculate your bcp and sci gpa that they receive from AADSAS

that sucks! Brain and Behaviour was my worst mark in psychology 🙁 I guess Cognitive makes up for it though lol

makes sense. always under the impression that universities go by the gpas aadsas provides them with but guess im wrong. my question is why would they recalculate it and they really have enough time to recalculate each applicant's gpa?

different universities weight things differently. That has been my experience the AADSAS GPA thing is way for schools to report back averages to the ADEA of accepted candidates. Thats at least what I have been told, and I doubt it takes that much time to figure it out. They likely have automated programs.

considering you have to send about 50 bucks to send your stuff in and another 50 for a secondary application. I expect them to do a little more than read an application for ten minutes.

Do the courses listed under "non-science" on that list count towards your bcp gpa? This list is so misleading!

No. Non-science courses will not count as BCP. I don't believe the "Other sciences" will either which sucks because I took a nutrition course that had the prefix BIOL.

As mentioned, cognitive psychology is included in BCP, but regular "psychology" is included in the non-science. I don't know if some schools have different departments for each or if some of the psychology major courses are part of the bio dpt. If anyone can shed light on this I'd appreciate it as well. I have taken a gen psych course as a gen ed elective, but don't think it falls into the BCP category.

As far as other sciences, I have an astronomy course, which will be included in the "sci gpa" but not the BCP. I was also going to take a geology course just for kicks, also being in the "sci gpa" but not BCP.

"other sciences" are included in the "sci gpa" correct?

so bio anth and any classes under a bio anth topic would count?

I should have been more specific. When you register for classes they usually fall under a category. If your Biological anthropology class falls under Ant or anthro or whatever anthropology is under then no it would not count as a science class. It would be a non-science class. If this biological anthropology class falls under BSC or Bio or however your school classifies biology then it would be under BCP.
