Yes, California has DO schools nearby :meanie:

Also, NSU is basically in Miami, and TCOM is in Ft Worth/Dallas.

Baltimore is the most hideous city in the world, how my bf somehow manages to like it over the clean and beautiful streets of D.C confounds me.

Like I said you need a new bf who's a medical student 😉

No ties to the Northwest, never even been there, but got an II from PNWU

Over thanks giving the legend was on the facebook group ACOM 2017 and there were a total of 42 members.

http://www.facebook.com/groups/472110872833939/

Now today it went from 42 members to 41 and he's no longer on the list. How ironic history repeats itself a founder of a group forced to be eliminated from his own group.

🙄

Edit: damn shinbeats you must have really enjoyed when I posted this pic in the other thread because you are reposting it everywhere....

I also don't have androgen insensitivity.

Well, I could have been a heterodox nun that worshiped Hong Xiaquan and readed for his return.

Everything turned out better than expected. jpg

So anyone want to lobby with Dr.Lee & Mom to have them change the policies for becoming a member to protect both our information, identities, etc?

😕

SDN does protect your information and identity. All staff members sign an NDA and there are penalties for violating it.

If you are suggesting that we don't allow users to register with their real name or to divulge personal information, we simply don't have the manpower to do that. Users have to take some personal responsibility and live with the consequences of their actions. Sort of like real life.

I suppose my question is this:

After something like this occurs, what is the next move?

Do you call the places where you had been invited to interview and see if you can receive the interview again? See if you can be put on the wait list once again (for places where you were already on the wait list), after withdrawing? Wait until next cycle and reapply? Try to work things out with the institution that rescinded your acceptance? Take legal action, if possible?

What should be the next step in this case?

Since the letter is true, it would be best to not contact that school. There is no legal action here. Neither party did anything illegal. If I were this person, I'd rescind every application and re-apply next year to schools that I didn't this last cycle. If you turned down someone's interview, it'll be hard to get them to try you out again.

I will say that even though there may be no legal action available here, I think the student has a right to inquire about the evidence they have that he made racist and insensitive comments. Let's say that these accusations were false or doctored, but the student never inquired -- that could have been problematic as well because the student wouldn't have had any recourse in a situation they were not at fault for. If the school comes to the conclusion after an investigation that the alleged statements are true, then they have a right to rescind a provisional acceptance. Once you matriculate, you and the school you attend enter into a mutually beneficial (or detrimental) relationship. The school doesn't do well, it casts doubt on the student body. The student body does something awful, it reflects badly on the school. I think the school has a right, prior to admission, to deny an applicant if they decide that that applicant doesn't fit what they want for their entering class (professionalism included) and may cause harm to their reputation upon entrance. That is not to say that that is what would have happened had this particular student matriculated, but just a thought.

I would also agree with some that the use of e-mail a day prior to a major holiday (where you will be celebrating with family and where the medical school office will be closed) was not the best way to go about things. I think the best course of action would have been to e-mail on that following Monday, with contact information for someone he could speak to about the situation if he felt inclined to do so. Or a phone call would have worked as well.

Either way, I think the individual in question meant to stick up for a group he felt was being attacked, but didn't handle it in the best way. I really do hope that things work out for the best.

Whatever, people are just not careful with Internet use. FB is a primary example of people just putting it all out there and others get in through other people. HR people definitely go to FB pages of job candidates or possible candidates. I don't even use FB.

So the letter was deemed real?

Any proof?

like i tell my kids...choices have consequences.

I only recently found out you are a girl.

👍

per another post in here: a girl with a y chromosome and no androgen insensitivity, apparently

So.... you know. Not so much a girl. Or at least not female 👍

Serenade = not a girl.
Girls aren't the only ones that have boyfriends you kno.... might not want to make assumptions likes that

when you make derogatory public statements with your name clearly attached to them there really isn't much of an argument to be made in your defense. the only valid argument that can be made would be that someone hacked into his accounts and it wasn't actually he who made those remarks (which is obviously not true). it's clear that the school decided that other weaker arguments like "i was just joking" or "those statements were taken out of context" do not hold water and therefore they made a final and decisive decision. that's not to say that he is entitled to any sort of hearing or due process as an accepted and not yet matriculated student, i'm just trying to flesh out why the school may have taken such decisive action.

I feel like I missed something epic here and that makes me a sad panda.

Couldn't be bothered to read 12 pages but I can infer what happened from the first few posts.

Name of the game: PROFESSIONALISM.

True indeed, Skin. True indeed.

The show is epic. I have every season on DVD (yes, I am behind the times lol)

you need to rip those DVDs to your computer and never speak of physical media again!

😀

Good stuff though, esp the first two seasons

I decided in utero that menstration sucks and kicked my adrenal glands and wolfean complex into gear. It was a good choice.... 🙂

I saw in this thread and in the other thread that some of you were considering writing to ACOM. I know you guys have good intentions and want to help this guy out but I strongly, strongly, encourage you all to think really hard about putting your name and reputation out there by writing emails and letters to this school on his behalf especially if you don't know him in person. It just seems like a really bad idea to attach your name to someone who potentially did something severe enough to have an acceptance rescinded. There is really no reason to get involved in something so serious and seems like really poor judgement.
