Fine, I'll say it.

For those of us not on SDN every waking hour, what happened?
 
Someone said stupid things online. The school previously mentioned in the thread sent him an email rescinding their acceptance BECAUSE of the stupid things he/she said. There are several things that make it seem fake, but that someone can't verify until Monday.

RVU almost sued somebody last year for mentioning things that happened at their interview. I think he retracted his statements, also.


Did I read incorrectly that it was ColeSmalls being rejected?
 
At guy above me don't mention his name....It's forbidden.

No I think in this specific situation somebody mentioned that in order to keep this thread from being closed that we shouldnt bring up names.

No, but seriously, if it's not okay to include usernames in our posts I'll refrain from it in the future.
 
Post #76 beat you all to it already. The sad part is that he can't even delete his mdapps yet because the site is down. I swear that thread probably made everyone 10x more nervous about their mdapps and being unable to edit it doesn't help the hysteria one bit.
 
Call me paranoid, but this is why I'm staying away from this website during interview season.

Paranoid, I wouldn't say stay away completely. I would simply refrain from insulting anyone, or saying stupid things. Keep the conversations relevant and whatnot. Personally the school-specific threads were really helpful to me. Even if you stick to lurking, those have been the best resource for me on SDN.

Agreed. SDN is a wealth of information for me. I know there are times when it is not the most productive, nor positive, place on the planet, but I don't think i'd know half of what I know about the admissions process without it!

Speaking of that, we need to come up with a code name for him/her so the legend can live on. I propose "Duchess" because it's the spy name of Archer, a character that goes around being controversial to people and advertising his spy status.

As a matter of fact, many staff members were appalled by the appearance of such. The TOS is very clear about when you post something it is forever. We do not extort users for money to remove their posts.

The VBulletin options have been around for a long time and if users wish to have additional account options, they may donate to obtain those. SDN had absolutely nothing to do the the subject of this thread's predicament, nor do we wish to foster pre-med paranoia. You guys make enough of it yourselves.
 
I found out about it like last night from another user via text. Despite my disappointment in He Who Shall Not Be Named's conduct on SDN lately, I'm genuinely sad that this happened to him. I think most of us are here because we need help or want to help or just want to bond with others through stressful times. Though I can completely understand this consequence, it's horrible that SDN can lead to something like this, as well.

Some people in pre allo managed to find the thread in google cache and post the entire thing even after it was deleted. We have some computer techies on this forum for sures..

The only cached version i was able to find had only the first page. I dont think the pre-allo thread is up anymore either.

That's what I was told. The same person who identified the IP as being from Washington came back the next day (or maybe later that same day, I don't remember) and said it was an ACOM IP and the confusion was caused by the fact that ACOM uses a central email service.

I don't know anymore than that though. I don't even know how to pull an IP from an email.

Some guy (who apparently cant be named) wrote something inappropriate on SDN and ACOM took away his acceptance??? Is that correct? What did the user say that was so offensive?

Basically yes. Voldemort got linked to his SDN account by Hogwarts and they rescinded his acceptance for using the cruciatus curse.
