I think at the very least he'll let someone know who will come and let everyone know. I think it's sort of the decent thing to do so that this doesn't end up just as a legend attached to a possible myth but a very realistic learning experience for the community.

Posting this may make me look stupid on Monday if I'm not right, but I went back and carefully read the thread about the PM. I really think it was Mr. Trololol himself. The emailer, not the victim/perpetrator in question. I just can't believe it is really the school that sent that email. It was the day before Thanksgiving, firstly. That may be a minor issue, but that they sent an email saying not to contact them about it, and didn't offer him a call, a physical letter, a contact number, a committee discussion, nothing... it's just so hard to accept.
The scary thing is that I think several people emailed this school on his behalf. So if this is an epic prank (anyone can send an official email from anybody else), and I hope it is a prank, then this school just got tons of emails and horrible PR from the OP, in which case the school had no problem with him before, but now they really will. So if it wasn't a prank, the OP is screwed. If it was, now he's screwed.

i considered this as well. he shouldn't have posted anything. ACOM is going to be pissed either way. if he does matriculate, its going to suck being "the guy who got pranked".

For the record, his account is still active so I'm sure he'll update us on monday. Although the SDN servers may go down with the volume of patrons who have taken an interest in it. I hope this is just a cruel prank. Seems possible if his email was visible to the facebook UD group that was trolled...The whole "please don't contact us" thing is really sketchy!

Hmmm....,This could potentially affect a lot of people. 1 school I went to did not give students their own email address, another had their students use gmail not .edu. The last school took away you email after 1 year of graduating.

I agree with that other poster, however. This could potentially exclude people who would otherwise be normal productive members. I guess it is a lesser of two evils thing. Make it harder for trolls and/or optotroll93 to make new accounts vs shut the door to people.

No one knows for sure what actually happened or if the school actually sent a letter or if a letter was forged. Also, it was not just SDN and FB where things were posted. If the school actually rescinded offer it was likely due to a completely other unmentioned online postings by someone with the same handle. But it cannot be confirmed that the person was the same or just happened to have the same handle.

We don't know the exact specifics. He hasn't talked to ACOM, because of the holiday, so there's no telling if there was a report to them or if they've simply been tracking him out of their own interest.

They seem pretty stern so I wouldn't be surprised if on Monday they tell him to move along without providing any extra details

The current restriction on email address was put in place to address an issue (not related to what happened in Pre-Osteo). Once fixed, hopefully the email restriction will be lifted.

I found out about it like last night from another user via text. Despite my disappointment in He Who Shall Not Be Named's conduct on SDN lately, I'm genuinely sad that this happened to him. I think most of us are here because we need help or want to help or just want to bond with others through stressful times. Though I can completely understand this consequence, it's horrible that SDN can lead to something like this, as well.
