Hello,

I am planning on submitting a publication, of which I will be first author, to a journal (IF 6.5) next week. However, I have some schools that I believe are making decisions within the next month and was hoping to send them an update about this before they made their decision. Since the pub is only submitted and not accepted is this worthy of an update? Or should I just ignore it and hope it doesn't make an impact on my decision..? Thanks in advance!

Publications really don't matter until they've been accepted (IMO). Since publications aren't entrance requirements I would say hold off on updating until you have concrete evidence that it's been accepted.
