Quick question for you guys,

At this stage of my career (MSIII) I am quite fortunate to have a PI who is gracious with my name on publications, the issue I have is that many of these pubs are in one particular journal (an "up and coming" type), my question is whether this will be noticed/frowned upon by program directors come residency time? Or should I just assume that my name on any paper is a great achievement to begin with?

Any input is appreciated...

Many applicants for residency do not have publications. So I don't see why your publication scenario should pose a problem for you.

Residency program PDs will probably pay more attention to see if you have first author publications. At one of my interview visits, my host had a copy of my application packet printed from ERAS. Written on it was some bracket diagram on the publications page of my ERAS application. While he couldn't decipher what it meant, upon closer inspection I figured out what it meant. They tallied the number of first author pubs I had vs. the rest of my publications.
