I am currently trying to decide on whether to go into pulm/cc and was hoping for some advice about the research side of the field. So far it has seemed to me that alot of the basic research in the field is in its infancy (ILD, IPF, stem cell etc). Im hoping this means that there will be lots of future opportunties at the bench in pulm. However, I was also concerned about whether pulm research is hampered by the relative difficult trying to study such a complex organ. For those who are already at the bench do you find yourself limited in the types of experiments you can do because of technical limitations? Hopefully Im wrong here.
